The Mental Cost of Entrepreneurship was coined by Entrepreneur and Psychotherapist Shanna A. Jefferson to raise awareness of the importance of entrepreneurs taking a holistic approach in their endeavors including address their mental health. According to a study conducted by The University of California, 49% of entrepreneurs endure at least 1 mental illness. The challenges of entrepreneurs vary from lack of support, unpredictable cash flow, and the challenge of wearing many hats.

Mental health issues, if not addressed, can have a debilitating effect on not only the entrepreneur but their entrepreneurial endeavors and/or business as well.

Thus, it is important for aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs to take a holistic approach to entrepreneurship.

Ms. Jefferson offers support for entrepreneurs including psychotherapy, coaching, a courses, and several books. In addition, Ms. Jefferson will host the 2nd Annual “The Mental Cost of Entrepreneurship” Summit on May 4 in Norcross, GA.
